Failure: It Occurs To Everyone

Nobody is ever perfect not to experience defeat and failure. Everybody is doomed and made to err. However, failure and defeat are inevitable. Each of us has already committed mistakes and failed at some point in our lives. Be it failing an exam, getting defeated at a sports game, failing to be a good friend or a parent or even a family member, unsuccessful businesses, not meeting expectations, straining relationships, constant sinning, and the list goes on; there is no escape.

Failure and defeat are demons which always lurk and stalk for possibilities to show that they have the power to debase and discourage you. They can blow up your wits and elongate your face till it hits the floor. Failing is unpleasant to the point that it can lower our self-esteem and eventually, put us astray further down the Discourage lane. Consequentially, it can also affect the stability of our holistic health.

The good thing is that we can always do something about it. Nobody said that dealing with failures is as easy as A-B-C but we can deal with it! It may be hard to get back up to your feet after stumbling a lot of times but accepting defeat is what makes you really a failure. For the times we stumble and fall, we should dust it off, rise up, and continue with the track. It is never easy but we should always help ourselves.

Here are few ways to deal with failures that I come to think of. For those of you who have discouraged hearts, I hope this will help! :)
  1. Acceptance. We can't run away from mistakes because we commit them from day-to-day basis. By committing mistakes means failing expectations or standards set upon you. You need to ready yourself and accept that you are very prone to make errors, and in turn, you will not feel bad after all. You're not the only one in this world who makes mistakes. Everybody does! Besides, you're only human and you were never born perfect and that's your saving grace.
  2. Build yourself up. Never ever let anyone tear you down or discourage you. Enumerate your strong and weak points and make a list of your skills and capabilities. Plan how you can enhance your strong points and how you can improve and direct your weaknesses to be of use. Be confident and believe in yourself and in your capabilities!
  3. You are special. Each of us has a unique God-given talent. Think about the special talents you have. You will realize that you can do what others can't and that there's always one thing about you that you're capable of doing that people would end up wishing they have the same skills as yours.
  4. Try again. There's no harm in trying. If you think you have the talent for something that you are rejected for, try again. But make sure that you are not trying in vain. If you think you cannot bring your best to it, quit it, and pursue something else. Setting an example is Stephen King who got rejected 30 times for his thriller 'Carrie'. King threw it in the trash but his wife fished out for the copy and encouraged him to re-submit it and look how famous Stephen King now for his iconic horror novels! [[Source]]
  5. Pray. Weary from the failures? Talk to God. God bestows you a great promise from Matthew 11:28-30 saying: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." You are not alone in times of trouble for God is with you and He will help you and give you rest from all the weariness. God will be there to pick you up when you are way down the pit of depression as He promised in Psalms 145:14 "The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down." and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5) through it all. Now isn't it wonderful to know that God is always there for us?
  6. Move on. There is no point wallowing in depression and anger for your failures. You cannot proceed while your other feet is on the ground. Talk to your closest friends or family members about how you feel and I'm pretty sure that they will give you a good advice and encouragement in one way or another that will help you ditch the dark clouds over your head. Be inspired from the people who have experienced failures but got back up again. If they can do it, so can you! :)
